Address Bar—URL is typed in the address bar located at the top of the internet window—click on GO!

Bookmark-saved URL address

Browser Software-allows computer users to move from one web page to another on the internet

Clipboard-a computerÕs temporary memory where a cut copied data is stored

Copy and Paste—File menu-duplicate information and put it in another place

Copyrighted—means someone else owes the information or graphics

Cursor-blinking line on a computer screen that shows where the next typed text will appear

Directory-a Web site that has categories that narrows the subject of a search

Downloading-receive a file from another computer

Forward and Back Button- located on the toolbar --Forward button takes you forward one page at a time --Back button takes you back one page at a time

Home Button—located in the menu bar shaped as a house.

Homepage-First page when you open the browser

Hyperlink or link- will take you to a new page (move the pointer over the webpage until the pointer turns into a hand—you have found a link

Internet- large network of computers

Links-a link or a hyperlink will take you to another part of a web site

Menu bar- row of words across the top that have pull down menus with commands

Printer-hardware for printing information onto paper

Scroll Bar - means you can move through the page on the screen

Search Boxes—empty boxes usually having the word search by it

Search engine—helps us find what we need on the internet—the engine searches the internet using ÒspidersÓ –it is like an index in a book—(need keywords-a word or phrase that describes the content or topic)

Title Bar-Runs across the top of the screenthat tells the name of the web site

Toolbar-row of command buttons

URL-web address (Uniform Resource Locator)

Webpage-one specific page on the internet

Web Site- it is like a book with pages (group of pages)

WWW—World Wide Web
